Questions that you must have an answer to:
When and where were you taken?
Rinae was taken at the age of 18 in the spring of 2002 and returned 2009.
Who were you before you were taken?
Rinae used to be Samanth Kay, a bookworm in her last year of high school. She attended St. Bethany’s School for Young Women. She was not ugly, per se, but she was quiet and intelligent and generally miserable at the school. She was the pariah that even the other pariahs avoided and mocked. She blames her father, a leading fashion designer (or owner of a large fashion design company) for making her stay at that school.
Why were you taken?
Rinae is still unsure of quite why she was taken, but she believes that her Keeper wanted to see if he could make the dull bookworm into a stunning beauty. No, she does not like references to Pretty Woman.
Who took you?
Rinae’s Keeper was a being known as The Broker.
What was your Durance like?
Working for the Broker was like working in the worst brokerage firm imaginable. She regularly dealt in whatever the Broker got his hands on: souls, pineapples, slaves, anything. Her job was to broker deals between various True Fae. As a result, her skill in Pledges became something truly special. She still has nightmares about the single time she made a mistake that cost her Keeper. She only remembers the part where he dismembered her entirely without letting her die.
How did you escape?
Rinae was on a job taking a contract to a True Fae. Her job took her through the warzone-nation of another Keeper. While she was there, she stumbled onto a Hunterheart named Jordan who was looking for a way out. She cut him a deal: he would protect her as a bodyguard and she would help him look for his family. She made him burn the willpower to activate their Pledge.
Why did you escape?
To get revenge on her father for forcing her to be at the school and to get revenge on all her former classmates.
What/where are you now? (Job, function in your Court, etc.)
Rinae currently lives on the West Side with Jordan in a small apartment that he rents using money generated by their pledge. She works as a fashion model for a small agency in the hopes that it will eventually allow her to get near enough to her father to get her revenge.
Notes: She has not begun to look for her fetch yet. She has the greatest contempt for people in the fashion industry, a trait she got from her father who believed that anyone stupid enough to spend that kind of money deserved losing their cash. She is now 26, despite having spent only seven real-years in Faerie.
Mask?
To humans, Rinae appears to be a tall, beautiful young woman with long, blonde hair. She usually wears cocktail dresses and heels, because she feels like it. And now she looks good wearing them.
Mien?
In her Mien, Rinae looks rather like her mask. Her ears are pointed and her figure is a little more unearthly. Her hair is also white and most of the way down her legs. Most importantly, she wears in this state, the same glasses she wore when she was taken. They were custom frames her father had made for her, based on her desires, and they are/were intimately bound with her identifying as herself. Her father would recognize them immediately despite the fact that she no longer looks like Samantha.
