I just downloaded and installed Firefox 2.0 Release Candidate 2. Fortunately most of the extensions I had work in 2.0. A few had to be tweaked from 2.0b to 2.0.
The new theme looks really nice and they incorporated a few great extensions into the browser.
A few of my favorites:
Inline spell-checking for text input boxes
X buttons on the tabs
Session saving

If you have extensions that work with beta 2, you can edit the install.rdf to say 2.0 and it should work (at least mostly). Just open the .xpi with a zip program.
X buttons on the tabs, huh ?
Isn’t it yet another thing they stole from Opera ?
Not that I mind…
Edit : if I remember well back when I was using opera I disabled that feature because when a lot of tabs are opened it’s easy to click on the close button by mistake instead of selecting the tab…
…and lmao @ me being the final poster in 40% of the threads listed on the index in the screenshot. Jim must have logged on just after I got done posting XD.

Ctrl-Z is undo for a lot of things in Opera - like accidently closing windows.
hm, whats that weird blue arrow thing bottom left?
part of the theme, or some extension?
Yeah, it’s called Back to Top and it adds toolbar buttons to take you back to the top / bottom of the page instantly. I find it handy to avoid having to scroll back up to click forum links after posting.

I just use the “Home” and “End” buttons on the keyboard
I’ve installed RC2 and it seems to be faster and more responsive. And when I open a new tab it focuses on the address bar, for some reason it didn’t do that before…I think it was my fault though >__<
(and yeah, i got used to closing tabs with the middle click anyway… but still, an interesting addition)

hehe.. yeah, pretty handy.. i actually programmed the buttons above and below the mouse scroll wheel to do just that.
Yeah, the home & end keys work too, but it’s easier to click a button when I am just cruising the forum. If my hands are away from the keyboard it is pretty handy.
The thing that’s killing me is now that it does inline spellchecking for text input boxes, I no longer have to press ctrl-shift-F7 to spell check stuff (and I compulsively hit those keys).
Hm, I think it’s either just my imagine or… they really improved memory usage or something? As I can open a bunch of tabs now, and before it used to come to a halt with lots of tabs…
I like the spell check. I don’t like the X on the individual tabs… of course I’m still use to using the one X for them all. BBCode doesn’t work anymore. And it doesn’t seem any faster to me, in fact this forum loads even slower now.
Overall I don’t really notice a difference except the nice spell checker.
Went and installed my British spell checker, so now you should see my posts being a lot more in line with the true English language… XD
I’m really liking this automatic spell-checker. It’s just… seems to make things a lot more easier, and I don’t even have to pay attention to the words before… as they are simply underlined.
Though a spell-checker may help my English, it certainly can’t help my grammar… hmm…
I need some extensions. I’ve been using a simplified Firefox for too long.

You can set the behavior in about:config.
set browser.tabs.closeButtons to:
0 - only the active tab has the close widget
1 - the usual look (close widgets on each tab)
2 - no close widgets.
3 - global close widget (at far right)

Yes, they fixed many memory leaks. However, there are still some left, so it’s not perfect, just better. It is also noticeably faster for me as well.
Needless to say, I’m more of a power user. However, I do believe that everyone should use one of the adblock extensions and the filterset.g updater. It makes the web browsing experience much, much nicer when nearly all ads are filtered out of web pages.
