Seto no Hanayome's story revolves around a young teenage boy named Nagasumi Michishio. One day during his summer vacation, Nagasumi was saved from drowning to death by a mermaid, San Seto, in the Seto Inland Sea. However, under mermaid law, if a mermaid's identity as a mermaid has been revealed, either the mermaid who was involved or the human who saw the mermaid are to be executed. In an attempt to save both Nagasumi and San's lives, San's family, which is apparently the head of its own mob, reluctantly decides that the two are to be married.
The cover sold me a long time ago, but I never got around to reading it. The anime prompted me to read the manga. And I really like the artist’s style of drawing. Just read volume one…need to read more when I have time… I really like it.
I didn’t like it that much. Having read 6 volumes, it follows the route of other shounen romance series, and like most of them, the relationship between the main characters often stagnates, and this one was no exception.
It’s a fun read if you are just looking for some humor, but then if you are looking for good story/character development, look in other places.
I have to agree, but when I read manga it’s often not about the story/character development. I think it takes some skill to be a good story teller in the manga genre.
But what I like is that so far from from I seen, reading is fairly easy. Sometimes in other manga you get frame-to-frame trouble where it doesn’t flow smoothly, but you don’t get it really here. And the artwork is really nice..(as with most manga… ). But anyhow, the manga section needs livening up with more topics for more manga… So I figured I’d start with what I was currently reading…T_T
I actually think good story telling could be achieved easier with manga than anime. There are actually lots of manga out there with great character development and plot, but for anime, I think it’s a little bit more tricky.
Either way, good romance is rarely found in shounen manga. Shoujo is the way to go.
And the problem with the manga subforum is that there aren’t enough manga readers on DA. That’s why it’s not that active. If you haven’t read the series, most likely you wouldn’t be posting in the thread anyway. But it’s a good start though, to start off with something that has its anime currently airing.
