Myself:yourself - I really cant stand generic shows that run off the same idea of “boy goes away from town for years, Girl he once new is really hot now but cant get in his pants…” lame…try again.
Kodomo no Jikan - for some reason this show screams Michael Jacksons name…i really really am creeped out by lolicon anime genre…
Evangelion - If i cant somewhat like or give a damn about the main character its hard to give a damn about the show…sure it made some great philosophical points…but i can get that from my college lectures. (Please refer to Rahxephon for a more satisfactory story)

Rental Magica - ok ok i’ve only seen the first ep…but it was enough to turn me off to the show…if magic isnt used well in context it becomes less effective as a story telling aid…so yeah it just didnt fit well with my concept of themes. (omg i said something that wasnt sarcastic)
D.Grey Man - The show felt like it was dragging its feet and progression felt sluggish…maybe i’ll watch if it ever ends…
Nightwizard - ahh…My Hime rip off with less adorable characters and lolifetish to drool over? yeah…
My hime - Cliche` weak built to plot development and i pretty much couldnt stand the ending…it made me so mad…i wanted DEATH!!! …but he was on vacation in this anime.
My “Z” Hime - the show’s progression was better…but the nail bitting suspense wasnt…and the whole loli thing was totally vomit inducing…(honestly i try not to puke unless im really drunk but these shows just kill me sometimes)
Shuffle - does this world need anime harem anime? err i’d like to think not but i guess so…i was just disgusted by how slow moving the show was…i was thinking of making a shuffle recap video that would take all the important scenes and squeeze them into 20 minutes…im sure it would work out great…i mean hell…it would only need to consist of 3 sentences of subtitles saying… “boy meets girl at childhood. Girl/s come back(later teens). Girl/s want to take their pants off for him.” the end ggkthanksmerryfucnchristmas

Ah yes…i know the ever vomit inducing Inuyasha has come up quite a bit on this thread…so let me place it here again…it was an epic 167 episodes of unchanging plot…what more could you ask for…if your high…

so what shows did you actually like Ice, seems like your list encompasses most important genre’s, plot cliche’s, and all of that… and most shows have a few of them in varying degrees…
hmmm well i generally like shows which i cant easily predict…ones that have very well done character development and are fresh new and funny…
i would have a huge list of shows that i like…but…this is not the thread for that lol
personally its all about delivery…every story can be interesting if presented the right way…even the most mundane harem anime can become a good show if the medium of delivery is well presented…ex Love Hina…i actually liked it because it was a unique setting and the pace was reasonable =)
compare that to Ai Yori Aoshi…ok…you’ll probably see why i value pace and setting so much…
i guess i could say im so picky because i look at most things from a storytelling point of view…

i dont have a locked set of shows that i value as “good” or “bad” its all about how the story is told…
usually when you write a script you want to have 3 parts for your plot… unless its a comedy…then u can do whatever u want to…
ex… you start with “build” which would be a theme of suspense, character conflict, setting conflict ect. without good build in most cases i get bored…if you have a drama that drags its ass you just have an animated soap opera…
the second piece of plot within a script that i look for is a climax point…in a lot of cases this comes at the end of a show or at the end of an arc…i’ll use suzuka here as an example…the show used a ton of build to bring you absolutly nothing at the climax of the plot…it left me with the bittersweet taste of having wasted my time…point being the show achieved nothing at its conclusion…this drives me nuts…its like saying…“here look we gave you a lot to look forward to…but too bad its over and we wasted ur time with a shitty ending”
the last piece of plot that i try to look for is a leveling off period. The time in which arc ends of the entire series ends…i generally look to see if the plot resolves character conflict and brings new light to the viewer…this is not always the case but generally the leveling off period isnt one that i can be very dissapointed with…unless its berserk…which decided to put the end of the show in the first episode prompting me to download the manga for the last few years.
heheh well thats just an idea of what i value…but its much more complex…there is far more to it lol

Madlax - probably one of the shows that met most of my criteria for plot…but failed horrible with my personal bloodlust…no gore in a military type show is just a travisty…
